Requesting extensions
Request a Visual Studio Code extension and follow the decision in Allow.
Submit a request
Members see Request extension when an extension is not already in the selected allowlist.
- Enter one exact Visual Studio Code identifier in the form
publisher.extension. - Optionally add a short business reason.
- Submit the request.
Scanning starts automatically. There is no setting to disable it. Do not put credentials, source code, customer data, or other sensitive information in the reason.
What happens next
The request appears in the administrators' Requests queue under Pending. Tenant administrators receive an email and can Approve or Reject the request.
Approval adds the extension to the existing allowlist flow and starts or reuses vetting. It is not a security verdict: the extension is still excluded from enforcement until the automated result is Allowed. Rejection leaves the allowlist unchanged.
The requester receives the decision by email when mail delivery is available. Their request history remains visible after refresh under Pending, Approved, or Rejected.
